The GOP Should be Tried for Treason? That’s a Hard No

“The entire @GOP should be tried for treason.” This may be one of the dumbest tweets sent out for 2020, and there have been some doozies. This one is courtesy of washed-up Hollywood star Alyssa Milano. She’s clearly out of touch with how politics even works.

If it were up to Milano, the entire Republican Party would be tried for treason. Everyone – not just Trump but also those in Congress, mayors, governors, and even voters. Because that’s what the “entire GOP” encompasses. If she’s going to make tweets, she has to understand the weight of her words.

Not only that, she wants them tried for treason. The very definition of treason is “the crime of betraying one’s country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.”

Milano’s claim is that Trump and the rest of the GOP should be tried for treason because he downplayed the dangers of the coronavirus. He didn’t betray his country and he didn’t attempt to overthrow the government…especially considering he’s the president.

It just shows that there are too many far-left liberals that literally have no idea what’s going on. They don’t understand the words they use when they head to Twitter to make a random statement about what’s going on.

She uses the clever hashtag of #TrumpKnewVoteBlue.

Well, considering how liberals tend to overreact about everything, he was right to discourage the public from panicking.

Every president discourages people from panicking. There were a lot of unknowns at the time. Trump provided the details as he knew them to be true – and he closed off travel to/from China immediately. Dr. Anthony Fauci has even come forward to say that he doesn’t believe Trump downplayed anything.

Too much panic would have led to everyone closing everything and stockpiling a lot more than toilet paper. The economy would have snapped closed like an iron fist.

Don’t panic. It’s politics 101. Otherwise, people go to extremes.

Joe Biden told the public not to panic in February. Dr. Anthony Fauci told America there was little to worry about.

But…it’s all Trump’s fault.

Fauci told Fox News, “I don’t recall anything that was any gross distortion in things that I spoke to him about.” He has also praised Trump, saying, “I can’t imagine that under any circumstances that anybody could be doing more.”

Former VP Joe Biden has had a history of panicking. During his time with Obama, he went into hysterics telling people not to travel on planes or subways because of the H1N1 swine flu threat in 2019. It took the Obama White House to calm people done and walk back the inflammatory comment made by Biden.

It sounds like Milano may be a bit bitter, especially since she announced in August that she had tested positive for coronavirus. It appears that she has made a full recovery, which also goes in line with what Fauci and other medical professionals have been saying all along – that most people will only suffer mild to moderate flu-like symptoms. Nonetheless, she wants to have her say and play the game of politics on Twitter.

The next time she decides to make comments, though, it needs to be thought out a bit better. The entire GOP cannot be tried for treason. Not only is the entire GOP not responsible for what happened, but even Trump also is not. The pandemic is an unfortunate event, but no one is to blame for it – except for maybe someone in China. According to federal law, treason is a crime punishable by death.

So, Alyssa Milano essentially asked for Trump and half the Americans in the country to be sentenced to death. And for what? Oh, she came down with the pandemic and thought that Trump should have said a few things back in March that would have caused everyone to panic. Sorry, that’s not the way any of this works.
