It has been argued, fought over, and called everything from brilliant to segregation and now it is rumored to be back, bigger, stronger, and longer than ever before – the President’s newest Travel Ban list.
One story reporting on the news said that “President Trump confirmed Tuesday that he’s preparing an update to the travel ban,” and then added, “…and I don’t mean a reduction.” This means that the new list when it is released will certainly ruffle some feathers.
The initial list that now includes, as our story reminded us, Syria, Iran, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, North Korea, and Venezuela, created an uproar among those on the Left. They quickly took up the cause against President Trump, as many declared this a “ban on Muslims” despite the non-Muslim countries on the list.
Citing the Daily Caller, the story explained that the President’s expanded list “will likely showcase his immigration enforcement agenda ahead of the 2020 election.” And, of course, that will undoubtedly bring out more free-borders supporting, one-world loving, far-Left standing anti-Trumpers accusing the President of segregation, discrimination, and inclusion.
Although they are, on all counts, wrong, wrong, and wrong, it won’t keep them from crying foul. Fortunately, for folks like these, they live in a country that allows free speech. They reside in a land where they can feel safe, and in no small part as a result of our amazing military services – and our Commander and Cheif. Yes, the very same they are railing against.
Whoever those Dems are that created enough noise to challenge the President’s Travel Ban List, the President had some stern words for them following the Supreme Court’s decision to support the ban.
Following the last ruling, Trump said, “The Supreme Court has upheld the clear authority of the president to defend the national security of the United States. In this era of worldwide terrorism and extremist movements bent on harming innocent civilians, we must properly vet those coming into our country. This ruling is also a moment of profound vindication following months of hysterical commentary from the media and Democratic politicians who refuse to do what it takes to secure our border and our country.”
When the new list is released, it is rumored to include places like Belarus, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Nigeria, Sudan, and Tanzania. After the last ruling from the Land’s Highest Court and the scolding from President Trump, the Dems might be less apt to throw rocks and accusations.
Probably not though, these are the Dems we are talking about, along with all the save-the-world, save-the-planet, free-everything voters they are trying to win over. These people might also have forgotten where this all began.
Our President, Donald J. Trump, has not.
The story reminded us of exactly where the President stood on these issues, citing his 2018 statement when he said, “as long as I am president, I will defend the sovereignty, safety, and security of the American people, and fight for an immigration system that serves the national interests of the United States and its citizens.”
No, President Trump has not forgotten that fateful day in September, when Americal was attacked on its own soil. In our backyards! No, most of us have not forgotten, but it appears too many have.
9-11 was a wake-up call and a reminder that we can never fall asleep and that we must always be vigilant. Perhaps for a few short moments in time, as we watched in shock, pain, and anger, the towers fall, we weren’t?
Either way, it is a promise the President made to the people, to make us safer and to protect America from such acts like that ever again. Maybe those who have accused the President’s Travel Ban of being too harsh, unfair, or wrong have forgotten.
May they, or any of us, never be reminded again. This has never been about keeping people out and it has always been about keeping the people of America safe. Perhaps, more than anything else though, it is about never forgetting – and we never will.
