It appears the leading Democratic candidates for the upcoming 2020 election amazingly agree on one thing. They all want to invite and promote more immigration according to one recent story. Despite the unpopular public opinion and the obvious reasons for not promoting immigration, the leading Democratic hopefuls are working to increase immigration numbers.
This unexpected unification on the immigration topic also does nothing to separate the candidates, all 100 of them. Yes, we know there aren’t that many Dems with their hat in the ring but it sure does feel like it at times. At one point, it seemed as if every Democrat alive had expressed some interest in taking a shot at running in 2020. Being able to define yourself and your agenda in such a muddled and crowded field is important, or at least you would think.
What you wouldn’t think, however, is that the front running candidates would all agree on inviting more immigration. Don’t get us wrong we are a nation of immigrants, and we invite immigrants who want to become U.S. citizens the right way. What that doesn’t mean though, is that we are out recruiting for more immigrants. We “invite” immigrants who are seeking a better life, but we aren’t out inviting people to become American citizens. There is a big difference.
Do the Dems think that we have a shortage of talent, workers or capable Americans here at home? Do they feel the need to press for more open borders to increase the quality of the American workforce? Because by inviting every person in the world into our homeland, we only weaken our nation and our workforce.
Immigration, especially on the mass exodus scale that would be promoted by open borders, would drive the wage of our American workers down. It would increase the cost of healthcare. This type of immigration can cause an increase in crime rates, and it puts a greater burden on the American taxpayer.
It appears, as our aforementioned story reported, the leading Democratic candidates are okay with this plan. Many of them, in fact, have actually promoted and led campaigns to promote and increase immigration in the United States. The story wasn’t hesitant to drop names either saying, “…former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) have gone above and beyond past Democrat candidates in their vows to drive a large migration to the country.”
That is pretty cut and dried and to the point. The lingering question now is why? Why would these candidates take a stance and promote an agenda that is not only unpopular, but that can harm the health and strength of our nation? Our story did make one suggestion to that end, albeit uncertain and not without its own curiosity. According to the story, “that increase in immigration would likely have significant consequences for states like Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia. As research by the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Axios, experts, and demographers has repeatedly discovered, an increase in the foreign-born population via immigration inevitably translates to an increase in likely Democrat voters.”
So this is a plan for the future? Maybe, or maybe not, because there is currently a strong and growing base of foreign-born voters who have carried many Democrats to positions in the House and Senate. Perhaps this is an appeal to them, and although it may not win the Presidency in 2020, what about 2024 or 28?
Unfortunately, these Dems may even be willing to do that in order to win the Oval Office. They may very well care more about their power and position than the health, strength, and safety of our nation, our workers, and our citizens. Even if this is a plan and a platform for future elections, and even if it paid off for the Democrats, how much would it cost us – America?
Maybe there is another reason why the Democrats are so big on promoting and pushing immigration? Maybe they know they can’t win in 2020 and it is time to focus farther down the road? Maybe they don’t know that immigration without reform, due process, and careful guidance weakens us all?
Then again, what if they know all too well and worse yet, they just don’t care?
