At some point, we have to ask ourselves what the words liberal, progressive, or even democrat actually mean. Because as of late, it seems that they are synonymous with hypocrite, two-faced, and liar.
Let this be an example to that.
On Thursday, the nation of Israel announced that Democratic Representatives Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar from Minnesota would not be allowed to enter their borders for a planned visit.
Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely told the press, “Israel has decided – we won’t enable the members of Congress to enter the country.” He went on to his and Israel’s reason for such a decision.
“We won’t allow those who deny our right to exist in this world to enter Israel. In principle, this is a very justified decision.”
And one that certainly makes sense. After all the two congresswomen have been pushing for a boycott of Israeli goods for some time now, as well as legislation that would combine the nation of Israel with the area that many anti-Semitists such as Tlaib and Omar call Palestine. The joining of the two into one state would be Israel’s destruction, and the nation would cease to exist.
Therefore, it only seems fair that the nation would be hesitant and even resistant to those who have made it their business to harm Israel.
However, the Democratic Party is raising cane over the rejection, calling it unfair, disrespectful, and an insult.
But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the nation’s decision soundly and posted on Twitter the following statement:
“No country in the world respects America and the American Congress more than the State of Israel. As a free and vibrant democracy, Israel is open to critics and criticism with one exception: Israeli law prohibits the entry into Israel of those who call for and work to impose boycotts on Israel, as do other democracies that prohibit the entry of people who seek to harm the country.”
He continued by saying, “In fact, in the past, the US did this to an Israeli member of Knesset, as well as to other public figures from around the world.”
And he is exactly right. The US and other nations have, on numerous occasions not allowed someone to enter based on the belief that those people do not come in peace. If they feel those people are a threat to their country, they have every right to turn them away. Israel is no different.
The prime minister then gives evidence as to why they believe that Tlaib and Omar were not there to promote a peaceful relationship.
“Congresswomen Tlaib and Omar are leading activists in promoting the legislation of boycotts against Israel in the American Congress. Only a few days ago, we received their itinerary for their visit in Israel, which revealed that they planned a visit whose sole objective is to strengthen the boycott against us and deny Israel’s legitimacy.”
He continued saying, “They listed the destination of their trip as Palestine and not Israel, and unlike all Democratic and Republican members of Congress who have visited Israel, they did not request to meet any Israeli officials. Either from the government or the opposition.”
But what the Prime Minister said next made the purpose of their visit very clear.
“The itinerary of the two Congresswomen reveals that the sole purpose of their visit is to harm Israel and increase incitement against it. In addition, the organization that is funding their trip is Miftah, which is an avid supporter of BDS, and among whose members are those who have expressed support for terrorism against Israel.”
Anyone in their right mind would side with Israel on this matter, seeing their ‘state’ trip as nothing more than a ploy to rally support for their cause.
But, of course, the left doesn’t see it that way.
And yet, they have had no complaints about President Trump being banned or not welcomed to various cities and nations in recent months.
When he was denied access to El Paso, New York City, Newark, and San Diego, they not only didn’t complain, they cheered and shared and retweeted at every opportunity they got.
And when the Dutch parliament, Ireland, the U.K, and Britain made similar claims of not welcoming Trump, did we hear any objections? Absolutely not.
But how is this any different? Oh, wait… it’s not.
Yep, I guess liberal really does mean hypocrite.
