Kamala Harris was starting to make some ground in the polls for the 2020 primaries. She gave Biden hell about his segregationist remarks. She also had a lot to say in the first debate. However, she’s now teaming up with AOC, just days after announcing that she wants to provide $1B in federal funding to provide housing to black communities.
The desperation in the air is thick as Harris is trying anything in order to dig her heels into the elections. She’s trying to oust Biden to be in the number one slot in the polls. The problem is that she’s teaming up with the wrong people and showing how desperate she is to get people to like her.
What’s with AOC?
Kamala Harris has teamed up with freshman rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on a bill to help criminals to get easier access to housing. Dems are notoriously trying to help the illegals and criminals in order to get more votes, so it’s not surprising that Harris is going after those with criminal records in the effort to get the presidential nomination.
Currently, criminals have a hard time getting housing because they have to check the box that they have a criminal record or that they have been convicted of a felony. It makes landlords hesitant to rent to them for obvious reasons.
AOC is all about balancing inequality in regards to income and race. However, she doesn’t care about how the inequality was established to start with, such as whether they’re in the country illegally, committed crimes, or have failed to get an education. She wants to hand out money regardless, and it’s fiscally irresponsible.
Why partner with AOC?
Harris feels as though AOC has some pull with the far left. For some reason, AOC is the ringleader of all of the crazies who feel that they know best when it comes to running the government. They don’t listen to common sense and they don’t use history as a reference of what not to do. Instead, they use millennial thinking of “I know what’s best.”
Sanders and Warren have already teamed up with AOC as a way of showing the extreme leftists that they can play ball. There’s the belief that if AOC recommends them as president, millions of millennials will vote for them. AOC, herself, can’t run because she’s not old enough yet. That should say enough right there.
However, Harris is desperate enough to try anything because she has to gain some ground. She is fearful that she can’t get the DNC nomination on her own merits, so she’s willing to align with AOC to prove to people that she’s capable of working with the far left. This is almost as bad as Biden saying that he’s capable of working with segregationists.
All of the more conservative Dems are going to pull away from Harris as soon as she aligns with AOC.
What the Bill Will Allow
The Fair Chance at Housing Act of 2019 would ban the “one strike” policies that allow landlords to evict someone after a single episode of criminal activity.
There’s also funding going on inside of the bill because if there’s one thing that the Dems love, it’s throwing money at a nonsense program when there isn’t money to be spent. The figure? $100 million that would serve as “bonus” funding for homeless service providers. Keep in mind that the Dems are also the ones that are preventing funding from going to the Department of Veteran Affairs. They’ll give money to actual, convicted criminals before they give money to homeless veterans.
Harris’ reasoning is that people become involved in the criminal justice system and face barriers when they return home from serving their time. What she doesn’t seem to realize is that’s part of the deterrent. If you don’t want to have these barriers, don’t commit the crime. She’s proving that she’s just as much of a bleeding heart liberal as AOC, and it’s going to come back to haunt her within the polls.
The reason that Biden is the leader in the polls is that he’s not a far-leftist. He’s capable of compromise. While he’s still not going to beat out Trump, he’s the least crazy out of all of the ones running.
Harris’ desperation is likely to show as soon as this bill hits the House floor. Once more people see that she’s supporting AOC’s crazy ideas, her poll numbers will drop. At that point, all the fundraising in the world isn’t going to get her the Dem nomination.
