The President is one that likes to honor the military and provide much-needed support to those that are actively serving.
The President has long desired to have a military parade take place in Washington, but the idea was met with criticism. In order to honor those that have served and are currently serving their country, the President has decided to give the speech at the traditional Fourth of July celebration at the National Mall.
The Trump administration informed the Washington’s mayor’s office that the President was planning on a speech during the event. People that are opposed to the idea are claiming that this move by the President would set a standard that could have long-lasting effects on an event that is supposed to a neutral event.
Gerald E. Connolly, who is a Democrat Representative from Virginia, has stated, “He can’t resist injecting partisan politics into the most nonpartisan sacred American holiday there is: the Fourth of July.”
Connolly believes that this is an attempt by the President to cause division and bring attention to himself as the speech takes place. There are some that believe that this move could bring crowds of protest and cause even greater problems for the capital.
Eleanor Holmes Norton, who is a Democratic person that represents the District of Columbia in the House, has stated, “People are going to be angry. This is going to be the angriest July 4 ever. People are going to be so incensed that a political figure would take over the Fourth of July that you will find many who believe they will have to find a political expression of their disgust.”
Not every person is going to be disgusted or outraged at the event. People like to see their President involved in patriotic events. It does not matter if they are Republican or Democrat, just to have the national leader involved demonstrates the care and compassion that they have for the country and its history.
The President has wanted to host such an event for a long time. Some view this patriotic display as an attempt to take over the event.
It is really just showing his support for those that have served the country to make it what it is today.
There are plans to have fireworks and a speech by the President. The fireworks have since been moved to the West Potomac Park area where they will be fired off.
The plan for the President to give a speech is a new development since it was announced this past week.
Fourth of July has only been a recognized holiday since 1938. It was made a holiday in 1870 but it would take years for it to be recognized by the federal government. The events that take place at the National Mall have been a long time favorite for many people.
Families come and make a day out of it as they have fun together celebrating the nation they love.
During the event, there is usually a parade and music that takes place.
Every event has a patriotic theme to it. In the past, many presidents have made it a point to stay away from the event, so they do not make it about themselves. The event celebrates the formation of the United States as the Declaration of Independence was signed by the patriots of the new nation.
It only makes sense that the President of the United States should give a speech in commemoration of the fallen heroes of the country that helped form the country into the great land that it is today. There is no indication that the President will make the event about himself or try to steal the spotlight or theme of the celebration.
The President knows that the Fourth of July is more than a political platform for a politician to make announcements and stage their own agenda.
The United States is the greatest country in the world today and it stands as a beacon of hope for those that seek a better life for their families.
It is time for people to rally together behind their president and support him in making this country great again.
